Fantastic Renaissance Art and Inventions in Chantal’s 5th Class!!

This month, 5th Class have been learning all about The Renaissance. We have read about and looked at the works of various Renaissance stars, such as Leon Battista Alberti, Filippo Brunelleschi, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. We closely studied Johannes Gutenberg and the invention of the printing press. This inspired us to create our own prints! First we made a ‘Potato Printing Press’ by carving our designs into potatoes and then using them as stamps. Next we carved our designs into sheets of foam and printed them onto paper. We really enjoyed learning about this process and are very proud of the art work we have created!
