Friday Updates 11/12

Published by Broombridge ETNS on

Hi all,

I don’t even know where to start this weeks email in terms of trying to describe the atmosphere around the school this week. It has always been such a lovely time of year for us in the school community but I have to say there is something a little extra special about this year. Both staff and children have really put their hearts and souls into making this a winter concert to remember and I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them for ALL of the efforts they have put in, and I, like yourselves am really looking forward to seeing the finished product next week.

As advised we intend to share the link with all families next  Friday (18th)  evening viewing together, we invite you to send us a selfie of your family gathered together to watch the show, these photos will be shared on the school facebook page to create a sense of community for us all. Our collection pot fundraiser now stands (at time of email) at over €900…this is an incredible amount to have raised in such a short period of time, thank you all SO much. If there are other families who would like to donate please follow the link: https://www.collectionpot.com/pot/48049/ . We have had a number of requests checking if its ok to share the link with extended family members, absolutely by all means fire ahead! We know there are some incredibly supportive nans and grandads and extended families who would absolutely have flocked to see our show in a normal year. Our heartfelt thanks to all who have donated, big or small, every euro will go towards continuing to provide the best possible education and resources for your amazing children.

In other news this week!:

– Winter card orders were collected and packed yesterday afternoon and have been distributed this morning to all classes, huge thanks to the staff who gave up their precious time after school yesterday to help me to pack the orders. We have a very small amount of additional packs for some classes so if you missed out on the orders and would like to purchase a pack please let me know, stocks are VERY limited and will be sold on a first come first served basis so be sure to send us an email if you would like to make a purchase. €3 per pack of 5 cards and envelopes. We can not give change so please ensure you have correct money where possible.

– Online home-school learning will finish up for the winter break today. Please send in your child’s folder with homeschool books on Monday morning to enable teachers to quarantine the books over the winter break. Online learning will recommence in January. Raz-Kids will continue to be accessible over the course of the break so if you are looking to encourage children with their reading please feel free to continue to use this programme. Teachers will not be engaging with Seesaw/Study ladder after this week until we reopen in January.

– Please continue to be vigilant around reporting illnesses/absences to us. We are required to hold written record (email is perfect) of all reasons for absences. Winter season is always a time for coughs and colds etc, but as you are aware, with the current precautions in place, we are being extra vigilant regarding all symptoms of flu etc. We are very grateful to you all for your support with this and understand it can be an inconvenience to get a call from us, or to have to keep children off school, but in doing so you are helping us to protect the wider school community. We are especially mindful of this coming up the winter break, when we all hope to be in a position to spend some quality time with loved ones. We urge you to speak to your GP at the earliest opportunity if you have any concerns at all regarding your child’s health/symptoms.

– You will have received an email this morning from Dana regarding book club orders. Id like to say a particularly HUGE thanks to Dana for coordinating this on top of everything else she already does around the place! It was no mean feet to sort and package the orders and single handedly ensure that all books and materials are going to their correct homes. As advised, orders will be ready for collection on Monday and any orders not collected will be given to children to bring home on Tuesday.

Thats it for this week folks. Once again a heartfelt thanks for your support of all we do, it is very much appreciated.

Have a lovely weekend,

Eibh
