This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase 24 Chromebook laptops with headphones for our students. Following the purchase of these devices, class accounts were created on Google Workspace and we were in a position to develop skills within Google Workspace such as Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides etc. These devices are used on a daily basis in our school across all classrooms and support learning in many subjects (English, Maths, SESE, Coding). Finally, we used the remainder of the grant to purchase an annual subscription of Reading Eggs online reading programme for targeted students in our school. This was an invaluable resource used daily in our classrooms to support literacy development.
