Physical Activity
Physical activity is for everyone, and any level of physical activity is better for your health than none!
All children and young people should be active for at least 60 minutes every day.
The Active School Flag guides schools to create their own specific roadmap for sustained physical activity practices. Research has shown that physical activity during the school day has the greatest impact on students with low physical activity levels.
The benefits of physical activity include:
- Improving health and well-being.
- Reducing the risk of illness.
- Feeling a sense of achievement.
- Developing focus and motivation.
- Having fun!
Choose physical activities that you enjoy to maximise your chances of staying active.
The Active School Flag framework enables schools to maximise physical activity opportunities during break times and throughout the day, and to harness the potential of calendar events and other initiatives to get staff and students moving more. It encourages schools to broaden the range of physical activity opportunities that they offer to better cater for the needs, interests and abilities of all its’ members.
