Principal’s Welcome

Hello everybody and welcome to our school website, I hope it provides you with a brief snapshot of the wonderful work, learning and fun that takes place daily in Broombridge ETNS.

Broombridge ETNS opened in September 2016 in a new purpose-built Department of Education building on Bannow Road, Cabra, Dublin 7. The school originally opened with 11 pupils, one principal and one part time secretary. Now in 2024 we have 14 mainstream classes and 2 classes for children with Autism.

As a developing school we have gone through many changes over the years, we currently have 350 pupils enrolled and will celebrate the graduation of our very first 6th class in June 2024.  We have over 40 wonderful staff who are committed to ensuring the growth, academic progress and social development of each and every pupil in their care remains at the forefront of all we do.

Broombridge Educate Together operates under the patronage of Educate Together, who currently operate more than 100 primary and secondary schools across Ireland and the UK.

Educate Together schools are bound by the National Curriculum and as such we teach all subjects within that curriculum.  As an equality based, learner centred democratically run school we also teach the ‘Learn Together programme’ as part of our ethical education programme.

‘Learn Together’ replaces religious instruction and is recognised as a model of best practice in Intercultural Education by the European Union. It teaches children about different belief systems as well as atheism, agnosticism and humanism, without promoting any one worldview over another. Children also explore themes around democracy, the environment, human rights, equality and culture throughout their Learn Together lessons.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a passionate, energetic and engaged staff working in our school who coordinate many different inclusive afterschool clubs and activities for our pupils from Senior Infants-6th Class. We are in the early stages of sports development with our football, GAA, athletics and climbing teams all representing the school. We look forward to expanding our sports teams and providing pupils with every opportunity to represent themselves and their school over the coming years.

As a school team we appreciate and value the input of the school community in our daily school lives and indeed the important role that all members of our play in the lives of the children. Parental involvement is a very important aspect of our school life. We welcome parents to many of our school events throughout the year from winter concerts, to family Fridays, and much, much more. We place a great emphasis on working in partnership with the parents & guardians in our school community to make your child’s school days as enjoyable for you as it is for them. With that in mind we have an amazing PSA (Parent & Staff Association) who work collaboratively with the school team to foster positive, productive, enjoyable and worthwhile experiences for the children in our school. If you would like further information on the role of the PSA in Broombridge please feel free to contact them through the school.

I hope the overview above has given you an idea of the wonderful school community that we have in Broombridge ETNS. If you have any further queries please feel free to contact myself or Vanessa (school secretary) at info@broombridgeetns.ie.

Yours sincerely,
