PSA

Parent Staff Association (PSA)

About our PSA

In 2018, Broombridge ETNS PSA was established with the aim of bringing parents/carers together with the school to engage in activities that help create the best possible school experience for the pupils, contribute to a nurturing and empowering learning environment and create opportunities for parent/carer involvement in their child’s school life.

The PSA works towards this aim by supporting the Principal, staff and Board of Management in Broombridge in a number of ways:

  • Organising a range of fundraising events
  • Participating in reviewing school policies
  • Galvanising parent/carer action groups for projects around the school
  • Engaging Parent/Carer participation in in-school learning and activities (pre-Covid)

Joining the PSA

If you are a parent/carer of a child or children in the school, then you are part of our PSA.

Our PSA meets usually once a month to come up with ideas, make decisions and organise events and projects.

These meetings are open to anyone in our PSA to attend.  The meetings are an excellent way of meeting other parents – particularly those outside your childrens’ class groups.  It is a friendly, open forum that encourages everyone to take part regardless of how long your child has been attending the school.

We welcome and encourage everyone who can give some of their time, or share their ideas, or lend a hand to get ideas off the ground or who can maybe ask for support from their own networks to come along and attend PSA meetings when it suits.

We can only achieve our aim with the power and support of our PSA community.

The school will generally email to inform all parents/carers when the PSA meetings will take place.

If you would like to join the separate PSA email list (managed by the PSA committee), please email PTA.broombridge@gmail.com. Your email will be used to contact you about PSA projects and meetings.

PSA Committee and elections

Each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) the PSA will elect a committee for the term of one year including the following members:

  • Chairperson
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Deputy Chairperson
  • Deputy Secretary
  • Deputy Treasurer

Anyone can nominate themselves for election and members have the responsibility of representing the parents/carers of Broombridge ETNS and managing the PSA in accordance with the constitution.

Our current members are:

Chairperson: Tom McArdle

Secretary: Gillian Butler

Treasurer: Joan O’Connor

In 2022, the PSA Committee elections will take place in Spring.  The incoming committee can look forward to an exciting year ahead, helping re-establish some of the events and initiatives that have been impacted by Covid and finding new ways to engage the PSA community.

If you would like to find out more, please email the PSA at PTA.broombridge@gmail.com.
