Run Around Ireland 2023

We held an Active School Flag committee meeting to discuss our daily running challenge for the month of March. We decided to host a Run Around Ireland challenge for four weeks. We measured an 1 km area around our school yard. We created a timetable for teacher’s to fill in to ensure that each class would have time and space for their laps. As an Active School Flag committee, we worked together to create a notice board to mark our running achievements. Our job was to explain Run Around Ireland to our teachers and classmates, to document how many laps we ran daily and to figure out what Irish landmarks we reached weekly!

Our school were updated weekly via the Run Around Ireland noticeboard as to what destinations around Ireland had been reached. After four weeks, our Active School Flag committee collected all of the documented laps and listed all of the Irish landmarks that had been reached. We reached so many Irish destinations, including the Aviva Stadium, the National Aquarium of Ireland, Mondello Race Track, Glencar Waterfall and more! Most classes enjoyed Run Around Ireland so much that they will be continuing it as a movement break until the end of the academic year!
